APSCO launched this competition in July 2023 with the aim of providing a comprehensive educational program for students. The goal is to design and build a 3U cubic satellite (integrated or a combination of smaller units). After the initial evaluation, three student teams from each APSCO member country were selected to advance to the initial design stage. In the final stage, which will last until the end of summer 2025, the selected teams will build an engineering model of their cubic satellite with $100,000 in financial support from APSCO. The teams will also participate in two summer training courses, with the 2024 camp being held for three weeks at the NPU University of China.
The Sharif University of Technology team, led by Dr. Mohammad Ali Turkman Asadi and Dr. Amir Hossein Khodabakhsh, consists of student members Daniyal Rezaei, Ali Moradi, Mohammad Barzgar, Negar Rastin, Parsa Rahmani, Farzaneh Mohammadi-Majd, and Sina Safizadeh. After a year of effort, this team has managed to reach the final stage of the APSCO cubic satellite competition.
