The President of Sharif University of Technology, Dr. Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, visited the International Campus of Sharif University of Technology on Kish Island on Wednesday February 14th, 2024 and met with Dr Yousefi, SUTIC Chancellor and other officials.
Upon arrival, Dr. Mousavi visited the main campus of the university, Faculty of Science and Engineering Building, workshops, and the Physics, electrical and mechatronic laboratories. He then visited the Concrete and Asphalt Laboratory located in the other campus of SUTIC.
The manager of the Concrete and Asphalt Laboratory reported the laboratory’s activities and objectives and introduced it as one of the standard reference laboratories on Kish Island. Dr. Mousavi declared that since SUTIC Labs are advanced and up-to-date and have international certificates, they can be connected to the network of reference laboratories in the country and be used at both island and country level.
Dr. Mousavi and his delegates visited the Innovation Center of SUTIC as well as the university's main building and met with campus officials and faculty members. In this meeting Dr. Yousefi, SUTIC Chancellor, welcomed Dr. Mousavi and his delegates to SUTIC and reported on the previous activities of SUTIC. He brought out the probable approaches to increase the academic quality of the university by increasing the number of resident faculty members and attracting more Iranian and international students both of which could be accomplished with the valuable support of the President of Sharif University of Technology and more mutual cooperation between Sharif University of Technology in Tehran and the faculties at SUTIC.
The next point on agenda was protecting and following the master plan of SUTIC campus—the main objective of which is to protect Sharif University properties and lands, by establishing Sharif School for Girls in the half-finished building located in the vicinity of Sharif Smart International School for Boys) and the initiation of the first phase of Sharif Development Plan which includes the construction of sport fields.
Then the three-dimensional maps of the rehabilitation center, the hotel where patients' companions are accommodated, the training and innovation center, and the boys' dormitory were presented. Dr. Mousavi listed the existence of a large and proper educational space, laboratories, and welfare facilities at the campus and the special conditions of Kish Free Zone as valuable platforms to fascinate more domestic and international students to SUTIC. Recruiting foreign students through Iran's scientific and cultural consultations abroad as well as through the offices of Al-Mustafa International University in the countries of the target community is one of the appropriate ways to attract foreign students. In the end, Dr. Mousavi expressed his pleasure for having visited SUTIC and getting to know its staff and faculties and having a field trip visiting the campus closely, and expressed hope that the comprehensive plan of this campus with the participation of the private sector will reach a favorable result in a short time. He also expressed his hope that with the completion of the construction projects, SUTIC will become an educational and research hub for the Persian Gulf countries and other neighboring countries in the not too distant future.
